Metheny has helmed some of the most adventurous jazz outfits ever. He is a sensitive and spirited sort, his work always a simultaneous expression of his own feelings and an astute interaction with the musicians who surround him.A decade ago, Metheny, whose Rolodex is absolutely limitless, decided to surround himself with some new talent. He built Side-Eye, a band whose title referred to the politics of the moment but whose aim was more sanguine: to use Metheny’s star power and experience to elevate young musicians he found inspiring. They all sport diverse résumés with experiences far outside of Metheny’s world—which, of course, is how they help him find new ground via Side-Eye.

Mac DeMarco is a Canadian singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who blends indie rock, psychedelic rock, and lo-fi into a laid-back style. A pioneer of "slacker rock", he's known for his offbeat personality and catchy tunes. His early recordings were lo-fi and hazy, while his newer work is more languid and shimmering. DeMarco has released five albums, including Salad Days, This Old Dog, Here Comes the Cowboy, and Five Easy Hot Dogs. General admission/standing only.
